Terms do not exist for this program.
Scholarship Details: Scholarships will be available
each year for an Emory CIPA summer study abroad program. The scholarship covers a set amount for the
tuition of the program to which students have been accepted. The amount is determined annually by the
Emory Scholars Program. Students are
expected to cover the balance for any remaining tuition, room and board, books,
transportation (to and from program destination), and other expenses that are
part of their stay abroad. Transportation and day-to-day spending costs are not
included. Students must indicate that
they are scholars when applying for a CIPA Program. Students eligible for the
Courtesy Scholarship are ineligible for this award and should contact Human
Resources at 404-727-7613 for information on Courtesy monies available to them
for summer study abroad. Selection Committee: A committee consisting
of the Office for Undergraduate Education, the Emory Scholars Program and the
Center for International Programs Abroad (CIPA) reviews the applications. Priority will be based on class standing, the
number of requests for a particular program, and the committee's evaluation of
the student's statement of interest. Please remember that the scholarship selection is a highly competitive
process. Scholarships are not
guaranteed. The decision of the
committee is final. Criteria for Selection:
The
Application Process: Applications for
scholarships and summer study abroad programs will be available online (www.cipa.emory.edu)
beginning January 4, 2010. Students must
complete the online Emory Scholars Scholarship Application and the online CIPA
Summer Study Abroad Application. The Emory Scholars Scholarship Application
includes an essay section in which students must submit a brief essay (1-2
pages) responding to the given prompt (separate from the essay for the general
application). Please note that the essay
is seen by the Selection Committee as an important element of the application. As
a part on the online application process, students will also be required to
submit material submissions (hardcopy documents) to the CIPA office; a
list of material submissions will be included in the online
application. Summer Study Abroad
applications will be accepted beginning January 4, 2010. Several of the summer study abroad programs
have a priority application deadline of February 1, 2010. Early application is advised for students
interested in the scholarship as some programs fill before the posted
deadlines. Scholarship applications must
be received no later than February 1, 2010. Students will be notified no
later than February 21 of the decision. If a student does not receive an award and needs to cancel his/her
application, the student must do so in writing to Branka Gajic, Summer Study
Abroad Coordinator, no later than March 15 to be refunded the $350
deposit. If a student does receive the
award and decides to cancel his/her application, the $350 deposit is
non-refundable. All Scholars are subject
to the CIPA Summer Study Abroad Refund Policy after March 15. If a student receives the Scholars award but
is subsequently rejected from the summer study abroad program, then the award
will be rescinded. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Branka Gajic, Summer Study Abroad Coordinator, at bgajic@emory.edu |
