Budget Notes for Summer 2022:

Emory Tuition covers 4 academic credits.  The Program Fee includes room (furnished housing), on-site orientation, internship placement services, cross-cultural activities, program support, technology fee and supplemental medical insurance. The academic internships are unpaid.

Since the students who are participating in the program will be fully enrolled at Emory and receive Emory credit, they will be charged Emory tuition for participation in the program.  The tuition bill will come from Emory's Office of Student Financial services during the normal billing cycle for the summer.  On the same bill, students will be charged a program fee covering extra expenses.  The non-refundable $350 program deposit will be applied towards tuition. Please review the Emory Credit and Cost Policy and the Global Internships Refund Policy.

The "billable subtotal" above lists the charges that will appear on the Emory OPUS bill.  The "non-billable subtotal" above lists the additional estimated expenses (to be paid directly by the student).  Please note that the actual costs may vary based on personal spending habits.  All costs are subject to change. Students with a high level of financial need may qualify for a waiver of the $75 application fee and a deferment of the $350 deposit; students should contact their OISP advisor for details/eligibility. Students who receive the deposit deferment are held accountable to the same refund policy as those students who submit the deposit; you will be billed $350 if you withdraw from the program, in addition to any applicable withdrawal fees.

Financial Aid/Scholarships:
  • Financial Aid Awards: Emory undergraduates who qualify for financial aid during the regular academic year are considered by the Office of Financial Aid for a summer aid award after registration in summer classes. No additional application is necessary. The amount of the award depends on the number of credits and current financial aid package. Summer financial aid awards range from 35% of tuition to 80% of tuition.
  • Emory Scholars Summer Awards: Emory Scholars are informed directly by the Scholars Program about awards for summer program.
  • Emory University Employee Courtesy Scholarships: May be applied to the academic fee portion of the summer study abroad program's cost
  • Benjamin Gilman Scholarship: For students currently receiving a Pell Grant, may be eligible to apply for additional funding for programs outside the United States
