Program Description:
REGISTRATION FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE RECEIVING EMORY COLLEGE FUNDING AND/OR CREDIT
(FOR INDEPENDENT UNDERGRADUATE PROJECTS, SERVICE, RESEARCH, or INDEPENDENT INTERNSHIPS ABROAD)

This registry is managed by the Office of International and Summer Programs (OISP). It is designed to keep track of Emory College students receiving financial support and/or academic credit from an Emory College department for independent travel abroad projects. If a student is NOT receiving funding or credit from Emory, then there is no need for the student to register through this system.

It is very important that all departments/faculty ensure that their independent traveler students are registered in this database. During the registration process, students will complete some simple questionnaires to indicate their dates of travel, location(s), purpose abroad (i.e. intended activity), and names of contacts (at Emory and abroad) who will support the student.  In addition, students will sign important waivers and receive health and safety resources for their time abroad.

To complete this process, students should click the 'Apply Now' button at the top-right of this page and follow all prompts.

Deadline: students must complete this registration process at least 4 weeks prior to their intended departure date (earlier submissions are welcomed and encouraged).

Benefits of this required registration:

  • This registry allows Emory College to more quickly respond to situations such as an international crisis or natural disaster that may jeopardize our students' well-being and to assist all of our students in the relevant locations.
  • Students in this registry will receive information about health and safety resources provided by Emory, including:
    • Supplemental health insurance through T.W. Lord & Associates for the duration of their time abroad
    • Travel assistance services provided by International SOS

Please note that OISP will not manage academic or visa-related questions related to independent travelers.  Such matters must be handled by the supporting academic department.

If you have questions for about this process, please contact OISP at studyabroad@emory.edu.
