Summer 2021 information will be updated in the coming months.
Applications open in January close to the start of Spring semester. The dates and details for Summer 2021 will be updated at that time. The health and wellbeing of our students remain a top priority and guide the university's decision-making process. While we are optimistic summer plans will go forward, the decision to protect health and minimize risk may affect in-person programming.
In an increasingly connected world, cross-cultural awareness and understanding across borders and languages are critical skills. Global Internships are a gateway to building cross-cultural competency.
The Emory College Summer Global Internship Program provides students with a comprehensive academic, professional and cultural experience. Each participant will be placed in an internship that corresponds with the student's course of study, to ensure the quality and academic relevance of the placement. Students complete an internship in a global city (35 hours per week for 8 weeks) while enrolling in an online course (4 Emory credits) during the summer term.
The Emory College Summer Global Internship Program enables students to:
- Develop professional fluency in new linguistic, cultural and/or professional contexts
- Adapt to workplace practices in a global city
- Connect with international experts in their disciplines
- Create a lifelong and global network of peers and mentors
- Meet personal, academic and career goals
- Earn Emory credit (4 credits)

At its center stands San Francisco, a beautiful, hilly city on the bay where Latin American, Asian, and European influences meet, from the historic and hip Mission District to vibrant Chinatown and Japantown to Italian-inflected North Beach. The Bay Area is a dynamic center of business activity of all kinds, from healthcare and human services to culture and communications. Just a short drive south is Silicon Valley, the global epicenter of technology innovation and research. The Bay Area is also a respected center of arts and entertainment, from world-class museums to theatres and concert halls.
Students live in furnished student housing for the duration of the program. Housing is located convenient to public transportation and includes kitchen facilities, access to laundry, and WiFi.
